The Deputy as Mayor of Drogheda led a deputation which I met from Drogheda Harbour Commissioners on 1 February 1984 to discuss the commissioners' application for financial assistance for the development of Drogheda harbour including proposals for the reconstruction of Welshman's Quay and Ballast Quay. He will be aware that at the meeting I arranged for officials of my Department to meet the secretary of the harbour authority and a meeting was held on 10 February 1984. My Department are now awaiting a preliminary report on minimum work necessary at Drogheda which the secretary of the harbour authority has agreed to submit. The request for financial assistance will be further considered when this report has been submitted.
