The reduction in the rate of VAT on the maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and farm machinery will increase the level of employment in the relevant industries above that which would otherwise obtain in the absence of the reduction. The precise effect cannot, however, be separated from the many other factors affecting employment in these industries.
