In addition to the Central Veterinary Research Laboratory at Abbotstown, County Dublin, there are five regional laboratories located at Athlone, Cork, Kilkenny, Limerick and Sligo. The diagnostic, investigational and advisory services provided by these laboratories are adequate for helping to cope with outbreaks of animal disease in both intensive and non-intensive livestock units.
