asked the Minister for Energy the number and kilowatt capacity of the existing ESB generating plant; the kilowatt capacity of each station, whether it is coal or peat fired; and whether it is proposed to phase out any of those stations.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - ESB Generating Capacity.
I understand from the ESB that there are 28 electricity generating stations on the board's system with an effective present generating capacity of 3,080,000 kilowatts (3,080 MW).
The capacity and fuel of each station are provided in the following table.
As with the Deputy's previous question concerning the proposed decommissioning of Arigna generating station, I will not be in a position to comment on any particular aspect of the ESB's Strategic Plan, including the closure of generating stations, until my examination of it and consultations with Bord na Móna have been completed.
