Vol. 350 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Educational Facilities for Deaf Children.

731.

asked the Minister for Education if she is aware that there are no post-primary educational facilities (that is resource teacher or teacher for the deaf) available for deaf children in the Limerick area; and that at present five pupils aged between 11 and 15 years are being prepared for post-primary education; and the facilities she plans to cater for these.

The question of the provision of post-primary educational facilities for hearing impaired children in the Limerick area by way of appointment of a resource teacher and the supply of other resources to a post-primary school within which the children would be catered for is being further examined by my Department in relation to the demand and need for such facilities. I anticipate being in a position to make a decision in this matter at an early date.
