Vol. 350 No. 4

Written Answers. - Payment to Builder.

583.

asked the Minister for Finance when payment will be made to a builder (details supplied) in County Waterford for a school (details supplied) as the final certificate was submitted in January 1984.

The extension to Saint Declan's National School, Waterford, is in the hands of an architect in private practice who has been commissioned by the manager of the school. The contract is between the manager and the contractor and the Office of Public Works are not a party to it. The function of the Office of Public Works is to pay the appropriate grant to the manager of the school on foot of his architect's certificates.

Following receipt of the full final account documentation from the manager's architect on 30 March, 1984, a substantial grant payment was made to the manager in April 1984.

A balance of grant is being held which will be paid when the mechanical and electrical installations have been inspected and are found to be in order. Also some items of work were carried out which are ineligible for grant.
