Vol. 350 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

569.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will authorise the payment of headage grants to a person (details supplied) in County Galway which have been unpaid for the last two years, as he has now corrected difficulties which existed in his herd.

Offences under the disease eradication regulations involving the herd of the person named were committed in 1981 and 1982 and accordingly headage grants have been disallowed for those years. Disallowed grants which were, however, paid before investigations into the 1981 offence were completed will be deducted from amounts due under the 1983 cattle headage and suckler cow schemes and the balance will be paid to the person named shortly.

Calf premium grants in respect of calves born between 1 January and 15 June 1983 will also be paid to the person named shortly.

570.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a farm modernisation scheme grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway for the provision of a water supply to his lands.

The grant was paid on 13 January 1984.

571.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the position regarding the application of a person (details supplied) in County Offaly for an interest subsidy.

The person mentioned has been paid one instalment of subsidy under the National 5 per cent Interest Subsidy Scheme. Only participants in the reduced interest scheme for farmers in severe financial difficulty qualify for a second instalment under the 5 per cent scheme. My Department have not been notified that the person named is a participant in the reduced interest scheme.

572.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason for the delay in payment of money due under the calf premium scheme to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick; and when this money will be paid.

The person named will be paid his calf premium as soon as the batch which includes his payment is processed. Delay arose because he was not the registered herdowner of the herd number quoted and it was necessary to have him so registered before payment could be made.
