Vol. 351 No. 2

Written Answers. - Water Schemes.

536.

asked the Minister for the Environment when an approval will issue to a group water scheme (details supplied) in County Galway.

The proposed scheme referred to by the Deputy will be examined further when the results of tests on the water quality and quantity of the source, which Galway County Council have been asked to carry out, are received in my Department. In the circumstances I cannot say when grants may be allocated for the scheme.

537.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will sanction the commencement of work on the Gaggin group water scheme, County Cork.

Revised plans and application forms for the Gaggin-Bandon group water scheme were received recently by my Department's local inspector and are being examined. I cannot say at this stage when grants may be allocated to the group.

538.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he is likely to be in a position to give sanction for the extension of water supply from Abbeyfeale to Templeglantine, having regard to the fact that the county council propose to build 12 local authority houses in the parish of Templeglantine but cannot do so until water supply is provided.

Following technical examination of the contract documents for the extension of the Abbeyfeale water supply scheme to Athea and rural areas including Templeglantine which were submitted to my Department, Limerick County Council were asked to submit amended documents based on amendments agreed between my Department's engineering inspector and the council's consulting engineer. The submission of the amended documents is awaited in my Department.
