Vol. 351 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payment.

521.

Mr. Coughlan

asked the Minister for Energy when a decision will be given to a person (details supplied) in Country Donegal who has applied for a FEOGA grant in respect of the connection of electricity supply to her dwelling house.

There is no record in my Deaprtment of an application having been received from the person referred to by the Deputy seeking aid under the western package electrification scheme.

I understand, however, from the ESB that the person concerned applied to the board on 14 February 1984 for connection of electricity supply under the board's normal terms and that she was given a quotation for supply soon after that date. It was later established that she was engaged in agriculture and that she might, therefore, qualify for aid under the western package electrification scheme. An application form for grant aid under that scheme was send to her by the ESB at the end of February but the application has not been returned to date.

If the person concerned completes the application for aid and returns it to her local ESB office, I will arrange to have it examined without delay determine whether she is eligible for grant assistance in accordance with the requirements laid down under EEC Regulation 1820/80.

The ESB has assured me that their local office in Sligo will be happy to give every assistance possible to the person concerned in completing her application.
