Vol. 351 No. 6

Written Answers. - Disabled Person's Allowance.

556.

asked the Minister for Health whether a person (details supplied) in County Wexford is entitled to a disabled person's maintenance allowance for her daughter.

A disabled person's maintenance allowance is payable, subject to a means test, to a person who is unable to work due to disability. I understand that neither the person in question nor her daughter applied for this allowance. If either of them feels they meet the above conditions, they should apply to the South Eastern Health Board, where the case will be sympathetically considered. It may be that the Deputy has a home help allowance in mind. I regret that a home help allowance would not be payable in this case, as it is not paid to people looking after relatives.
