Vol. 352 No. 4

Written Answers. - Group Water Schemes.

394.

asked the Minister for the Environment the position regarding the proposed Mullingar independent group water scheme; if he will outline the position now reached; and when sanction and finance will issue.

I assume that the Deputy is referring to the Mullingar independent water supply scheme.

I recently approved contract documents for this scheme and it is now a matter for Westmeath County Council to seek tenders. The question of finance will not arise until a tender for the scheme is accepted.

395.

asked the Minister for the Environment when it is proposed to pay the outstanding grants due to the trustees of the Tourmakeady group water scheme; the amount of grants outstanding; and the reason for the present delay in dealing with the grants payments.

In accordance with normal procedures 90 per cent of the provisional grant allocation of £155,850 to the Tourmakeady group water scheme has been paid to date. The estimate of cost for the scheme is now being revised with a view to determining whether the amount of the interim payment can be increased. The final 10 per cent of the grant cannot be paid until the group have completed the plumbing lists forwarded to them in September 1983 to enable the domestic water supplies in the scheme to be checked by my Department's inspector.
