Vol. 352 No. 4

Written Answers. - Remedial Teacher Appointment.

458.

asked the Minister for Education whether she has yet adjudicated upon the submission and application made to her on 12 January on behalf of a school (details supplied) in respect of the provision of a remedial teacher for the subject of mathematics on behalf of the many children who are in need of special help; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Applications from schools for remedial posts are examined by my Department and posts are allocated to the schools from the available allocation of teachers in accordance with a priority of need.

The school in question has the services of a remedial teacher and a special class teacher at present. The school's current application for a second remedial teacher will be considered in the circumstances obtaining in relation to the creation of any such posts for the 1984-85 school year.
