Vol. 352 No. 10

Written Answers. - Site Subsidies.

341.

asked the Minister for the Environment if site subsidies have been paid to Dublin County Council for sites provided at Alpine Heights, Clondalkin, County Dublin.

342.

asked the Minister for the Environment the house numbers at Alpine Heights, Clondalkin, County Dublin, in respect of which site subsidies were paid to Dublin County Council.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 341 and 342 together.

The payment of private site subsidy to housing authorities is conditional, inter alia, on the sites being sold at a price that is not less than the cost of acquisition and development reduced by the amount of the subsidy.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to his Question No. 550 of 15 May 1984. I indicated in that reply that a claim for site subsidy had been submitted by Dublin County Council in respect of a number of schemes including Bawnogue A and B (which, it is understood, includes the Alpine Heights Estate) but that from the information submitted it appeared that the Bawnogue scheme as a single unit did not qualify for subsidy as the sale price condition referred to above had not been met. I also said that the county council had been asked to submit information that might show that the conditions governing the payment of site subsidy had been fulfilled in relation to individual phases or sections of the scheme.

The position since I replied to the Deputy's last question is that the county council have not so far been able to submit the information referred to. In the circumstances it has not been possible to establish that the scheme (or part thereof) qualifies for site subsidy.
