Vol. 352 No. 11

Written Answers. - Cheeverstown (Dublin) Hospital.

369.

asked the Minister for Health the reason for the delay in opening the new Cheeverstown Hospital, County Dublin.

I approved of the commissioning of Phase One of Cheeverstown House Ltd. on 20 December 1983.

Phase One consists of:— The Adult Day Care Unit, 60 places; The Residential Assessment and Treatment Unit, 50 places; The Children's Day Care Unit, 34 places; The Workshop, 30 places.

The Authorities of Cheeverstown House Ltd. were asked to fill these places on a planned basis so as to ensure that this phase was completed by the end of the current year. The commissioning process has been delayed by uncertainty on the part of the authorities on issues relating to a small number of staff and I hope this can be resolved soon so as to enable the commissioning to proceed. I intend to perform the official opening of this major new facility on Monday, 19 November 1984.
