The rates of the allowance payable to members of the Permanent Defence Force in respect of Border and other security-type duties are kept under constant review. As a result of the most recent review an increase of 21.5 per cent in the rates of Border duty allowance was authorised from 1 January 1984. The amount of the increase and the revised rates are as follows:
