Vol. 353 No. 4

Written Answers. - Land Purchase Legislation.

506.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he has responded to the request from Dublin County Council seeking amended legislation to rectify the inadequacies discovered in the existing legislation preventing the council purchasing land zoned high amenity area for the proposed Dodder liner park, between Mortons public house and Templeogue bridge, Dublin, and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Correspondence has been received from Dublin County Council in relation to the amount of compensation payable in respect of lands in an area between Firhouse Road and the Dodder River which were compulsorily acquired by the council for amenity purposes and a response has issued to the council. It is understood from the council that purchase has been completed and that they are in possession of the lands.

The general question of compensation for land compulsorily acquired is being examined in my Department and will be further reviewed when the report of the Joint Committee on Building Land becomes available.
