Vol. 353 No. 4

Written Answers. - Registration of Lands.

644.

asked the Minister for Justice the reason for the delay in completing registration for a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

Limerick East): This is an application by the Land Commission for registration of title to lands which had already been vested by the Land Commission in the person concerned. Applications for registration of title to lands which are already vested by the Land Commission are generally not as urgent as other applications because registration of title takes effect, retrospectively, from the date of vesting. There is at present an unavoidable delay in completing registration in these cases due to the pressure of other more urgent applications.

Apart from that general problem, the application which is the subject of the question is in respect of a property which forms part of a block of 35 properties covered by one Land Commission vesting order. For this reason the application could not be considered in isolation and, in fact, it has been necessary for the Land Registry to raise a number of queries with the Land Commission in respect of the vesting order as a whole. When the Land Registry has received replies it will proceed as quickly as possible with the application.
