This application related to the provision of sewerage, chimney and bathroom facilities and extra bedroom accommodation. A grant of £200 has been approved in respect of sewerage works and my Department are awaiting notification of completion of works.
A chimney grant could not be approved as this facility already existed in the house and the proposed bathroom facilities were ineligible for grant purposes because the necessary waiting period from the date of payment of a grant under a previous house improvement grants scheme had not elapsed. Neither could a grant be approved in respect of the provision of a bedroom, because contrary to a statutory condition of the scheme the work had commenced prior to an inspection of the house. The applicant was so informed on 19 July 1984.

asked the Minister for the Environment when it is hoped to pay the first instalment of a mortgage subsidy to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.
Payment of the first instalment of the mortgage subsidy will be made in due course when the £1,000 new house grant is paid and the applicant submits the relevant claim form, duly certified by his lending agency. Payment of the new house grant will be made shortly.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason payment of the grant for the Dooega group water scheme, County Mayo has not been made.
Interim payments amounting to 80 per cent of the total amount allocated have been made in this case. My Department are in correspondence with the group to ascertain the final membership of the scheme with a view to determining the total amount of grants payable and making any final payment which may be due to the group at an early date.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a person (details supplied) in County Clare will be paid a mortgage subsidy on his new house.
This application for mortgage subsidy was rejected as the applicant executed his mortgage prior to 10 April 1981 and the subsidy is payable only in respect of mortgages executed on or after that date.
