The plan Building on Reality indicated that there will be a new emphasis on the development of efficient bus services, both in the cities and on rural and express bus routes. As announced also, two subsidiary bus companies are to be established under the banner of CIE and a review of the Road Transport Act, 1932, which regulates bus operations, will be completed in the next few months. In the review full account is being taken of the activities of the private sector in the interest of determining whether changes in policy are called for as to the role of that sector. When the review is completed I will be in a position to come to conclusions on possible policy changes.
