703.

asked the Minister for Justice if the gardaí at Tallaght, County Dublin, are in a position to ensure that CIE buses serving the estates of West Tallaght can do so in safety having regard to the fact that bus drivers have recently refused to take their buses beyond Tallaght village after 8.30 p.m. on the grounds that they are subject to stoning attacks on some roads in this area; and if he will make a statement on this matter.

Limerick East): The Garda have been in consultation with CIE management and unions as well as with representatives of Dublin County Council and the local community council in relation to this matter. They have given assurances to all interested parties that they are at present taking and will continue to take all practicable steps within the resources available to them to ensure the safe passage of buses serving the Tallaght area. The Garda authorities understand that both the management and unions of CIE appreciate the Garda position in the matter. They also understand that the difficulties are expected to be resolved shortly.
