Vol. 354 No. 10

Written Answers. - Payments to Stockholders.

658.

asked the Minister for Finance the arrangements which will now be made to pay dividends, land bonds interests and other remunerations that are paid to stockholders on 1 January 1985; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

During the Central Bank strike it will not be possible: (a) to make dividend payments on domestic Government stocks or land bonds listed on the Stock Exchange — Irish issued before the commencement of the strike on 3 December 1984; nor (b) to redeem domestic securities falling due for redemption during the period of the strike; where the registers of such issues are held by the Central Bank.

On the cessation of the strike arrangements will be made for the payment of those interest or dividend amounts which have been necessarily postponed; payment will also be made of amounts due in respect of securities, the redemption of which has to be similarly postponed. In all such cases interest at a rate to be determined will be payable on the amounts in question in respect of the period of the postponement.
