My Department have approved a sketch scheme for the extension to Scoil Mhuire, Ballintemple, County Cavan, and are at present in communication with the chairman of the board of management regarding the local contribution towards the cost. When this matter has been agreed a formal sanction of the grant will issue and the further stages of architectural planning may then proceed. It is not possible at this stage to say when building work on the project may commence.
My Department will be prepared to consider approving a grant for necessary minor improvements to the school, to render it suitable for use pending the construction of the extension. An application for this work has just been received and the Commissioners of Public Works are now being asked to furnish a report and recommendation in the matter.
