I do not consider that the introduction of legislation along the lines proposed by the Deputy is the most advisable way of proceeding in this matter.
In responding to a question by the Deputy on this subject on 25 October 1984 I indicated that my Department had put to the insurers the need to establish procedures for the satisfactory handling of cases of difficulty in obtaining cover. The insurers have responded in a constructive manner and I am examining the proposals put forward.
