Vol. 356 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tax Deductions.

487.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason £138.76 tax was deducted from a person (details supplied) in County Meath in the week ending 17 October 1984, and £92.36 was deducted on 9 January 1985.

The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that, as the employer's payroll system is currently being computerised, it has not been possible to confirm that the correct tax was deducted in the weeks referred to in the question. However, the aggregate tax deductions for the current year made up to and including 9 January 1985, the date he ceased employment, was correct. Arrangements have been made for the inspector to communicate as soon as possible with the taxpayer's employer for the purpose of ascertaining whether the tax deducted in the weeks referred to by the Deputy was correct. The inspector will write to the taxpayer as soon as possible to explain the position to him.
