The school in question is entitled to a staff of 12 with a principal, vice-principal and remedial teacher. In the current school year, my Department are paying the salary of one teacher over the quota. To alleviate the school's problems, sanction was given for an additional ten hours a week for physical education and 200 hours a year for the establishment of a vocational preparation and training programme.
An appeal from the school authorities, regarding staffing for the 1985-86 school year is now being considered. I will let the Deputy know the outcome when a decision is reached.
