On the basis of the returns from local authorities in respect of the most recent year, i.e. 1984, the amount included in local authority estimates for charges introduced under the Act was £15.813 million of which the amount collected within the year was £10.407 million. The above information relates to domestic water charges in urban areas, domestic refuse and sewage charges and, in some cases, library charges, in so far as the figures have been separately supplied in local authority returns.
