(Limerick East): The detailed deployment of Garda manpower is a matter for the Garda authorities who have informed me that the question of filling the vacancy for a sergeant at Ballycastle will be considered when additional sergeants become available following the holding of the next promotion competition. In the meantime, the local Garda officers considered that the service provided by the two gardaí at Ballycastle station, with assistance from the district headquarters at Ballina, is reasonably adequate to meet the present police needs of the area.
