Vol. 358 No. 1

Written Answers. - Sale of State Property.

606.

asked the Minister for Finance whether the Commissioners of Public Works ever dispose of or sell State property; the considerations which determine whether such sales or disposals take place; the procedures observed to ensure the best price is obtained for the State; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Commissioners of Public Works dispose of properties which are surplus to State requirements. Such properties are normally sold by competitive tender the highest tender being accepted if the amount is considered satisfactory.

In the case of sales to sitting tenants, sales of old unused national schools to trustees for community purposes or sales to local authorities for public amenity purposes the properties are sold at the best price negotiable.
