Vol. 358 No. 9

Written Answers. - County Donegal Roads.

446.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the condition of county/main roads in County Donegal; and if he proposes to have an inspection of these roads carried out by officials of his Department.

I am aware of the general condition of the regional and county roads in County Donegal on the basis of inspections made earlier this year by my Department's inspector for the area. A special inspection is not necessary at this stage. I have notified road grant commitments totalling £1.718 millions to the council for works on these roads in 1985. In addition, the council have been notified of a grant of £1 million from the Special Border Areas Programme Fund of which £750,000 has been assigned to improvement works on regional roads and the balance to appropriate amenity and minor road improvement works.
