As arrangements already exist for consideration of issues relating to equality of opportunity in the Civil Service, an equality officer has not been appointed in my Department. The semi-State bodies under the aegis of my Department were informed of Government policy in relation to the appointment of equality officers. In general the function has been assigned to an officer in the personnel area of each body.
