Eligibility for a medical card is a matter for the chief executive officer of a health board. In this instance, I am informed by the Eastern Health Board that the person in question was recently deemed eligible for a medical card and the board will be communicating with him to this effect.

asked the Minister for Health the number of medical cards issued to families and others in County Meath as of 5 April for each of the years 1983, 1984 and 1985.
Statistics on medical cards are collated at the end of each quarter. The statistics available for each county are the numbers of cards current at the end of each quarter and the number of persons covered by these cards. The following table sets out these figures in respect of County Meath on the 31 March of the years 1983, 1984 and 1985.
