Vol. 359 No. 7

Written Answers. - Offaly National School.

105.

Mr. Cowen

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the extension to Banagher national school; when building will commence; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

My Department have approved an extension to St. Rynagh's national school, Banagher, County Offaly with the object of bringing the overall number of classrooms to ten. The architectural planning is being attended to by the Commissioners of Public Works. I understand from the commissioners that a sketch scheme for the project has been submitted for their consideration by the school's architect and that it will shortly be sent to my Department with the commissioners' recommendations. My Department will then communicate further with the school authorities with a view to reaching agreement on the local contribution and the completion of the architectural planning. It is not possible at this stage to say when building work may commence.
