The election of members of vocational education committees is vested in the local rating authorities by section 8 of the Vocational Education Act, 1930 and it is not open to me to nominate a member. As indicated, however, in the Programme for Action in Education 1984-1987, the Vocational Education Act, 1930, will be amended to provide, inter alia, for the enlargement of vocational education committees and for teacher representation on those committees.
