Vol. 361 No. 3

Written Answers. - Dublin Cemetery.

75.

asked the Minister for Finance further to Parliamentary Question No. 506 of 24 October 1984 in relation to the extensive vandalism at the British Military Cemetery, Blackhorse Avenue, Dublin 7, as the barbed wire provided was completely inadequate, if he will ensure that effective security fencing is erected on the boundary wall or alternatively that the wall is increased in height.

Increasing the height of the wall which measures approximately 800 yards, sufficiently to eliminate the vandalism referred to would be prohibitively costly. The Office of Public Works is, however, examining the possibility of erecting some form of security fencing on top of the wall that would repel vandals and would at the same time be acceptable on aesthetic and economic grounds.
