The information requested by the Deputy is as follows: during the period 1 January 1985 to 30 September 1985 a total of 2,609 medical cards were cancelled in the County Sligo area. In the case of 1,607 of these cards, the holders had either died or left the area. In the remaining cases the cards were cancelled due to change in income and other circumstances. During the same period a total of 1,329 medical cards were cancelled in the County Leitrim area. In the case of 915 of these cards, the holders had either died or left the area. In the remaining cases the cards were cancelled due to change in income or other circumstances.
