The debt figures used in the calculations are based on the actual outturns from 1975 to 1984 inclusive, published in the Finance Accounts. The GNP figures used are those published in the National Income and Expenditure Accounts 1984, published by the Central Statistics Office. The 1984 GNP figure is, however, preliminary. As regards 1985, firm data are not available, and it is not the practice to publish estimates of national debt.
