asked the Minister for Finance the steps the Office of Public Works have taken to ensure that existing public buildings for which it has responsibility comply with part 5 of the Building Regulations, which sets standards for access for the disabled to, and circulation within buildings; if all such buildings are now fully accessible to the disabled; and, if not, the ones still remaining to be altered.

Adaptations were carried out where feasible to provide access and toilet facilities for disabled people in public buildings in State care at the time of the introduction of these regulations. New buildings provided since then have been built in compliance with the regulations.
It is not possible to list all the buildings where no provision has been made for disabled access. The normal practice is to survey individual buildings when requests for disabled facilities are received from Government Departments.
