asked the Minister for Justice the number of persons under 16 years of age who have applied to the President of the High Court for permission to marry in each year from 1 January, 1975 up to and including 31 December 1984; the number of such applications (a) granted; (b) refused; and (c) withdrawn in each relevant year; the number of applications in each year made by females who were pregnant at the date of application; and the number of such applications granted.

asked the Minister for Justice the number of persons (i) over 16 but under 18 years of age and (ii) over 18 and under 21 years of age who applied to the President of the High Court for permission to marry and to dispense with the necessity for a parental consent pursuant to section 7 of the Marriages Act, 1972, in each year from 1 January 1975 up to and including 31 December 1984; and the number of such applications (a) granted; (b) refused; and (c) withdrawn in each relevant year; the number of applications in each year made by females who were pregnant at the date of application; and the number of such applications granted.

The information sought by the Deputy is not available in my Department. This is a matter for the President of the High Court to whom the Deputy may apply directly if he wishes to pursue it.
