Vol. 361 No. 11

Written Answers. - Dublin School Extension.

169.

asked the Minister for Education the reason a tender for the construction of a general purposes room at the St. Vincent de Paul girls' school, Griffith Avenue, Dublin 9, has not yet been sanctioned by the Office of Public Works; the reasons for the continued delay; and when it is intended to approve this project which has taken six years to get to this stage.

170.

asked the Minister for Education the reason for the very long delay in a decision being made in relation to tenders submitted some six months ago for the building of a general purpose room in a school (details supplied) in Dublin 9.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 169 and 170 together.

The tender for the construction of a general purposes area at the St. Vincent de Paul girls' national school, Griffith Avenue, Dublin 9, was significantly in excess of the allowable cost limit, and it is necessary to secure suitable cost reductions before further progress can be made.
