Vol. 362 No. 7

Written Answers. - Grant and Mortgage Subsidy Payments.

26.

Mr. Cowen

asked the Minister for the Environment when a person (details supplied) in Dublin 6 will receive her £2,000 new house grant and mortgage subsidy.

A grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the dwelling has been satisfactorily completed and occupied and all the conditions applying to the grant scheme have been fulfilled. The inspection will be carried out shortly. The first instalment of the mortgage subsidy will be paid when the applicant submits a claim form duly certified by the lending agency.

27.

Mr. Coughlan

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will review the condition that the £800 grant for building a masonry chimney is only available in cases where there is no existing chimney in the house, to include those who are now excluded by virtue of their having a fireplace in a room which, in the inspector's opinion, cannot be modified to accommodate a back boiler for solid fuel central heating purposes and who have to build a new chimney for the purpose.

It is not proposed to amend the scheme on the lines indicated.
