Vol. 362 No. 13

Written Answers. - Farm Aid Grants.

157.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will give details of grants under the various farm aid packages to be made to a person (details supplied) in County Galway whose wife's income is being investigated and who claims his wife has had no income for the last four years.

Details of grants withheld pending the outcome of a review by my Department into this case were given in my reply to a parliamentary question on 24 October. The Department understand that, in addition to this person's own off-farm income, his wife had an off-farm income from outside employment. To substantiate his claim that his wife had no income for the last four years, it will be necessary for him to submit a statement from the appropriate inspector of taxes confirming that his wife had no off-farm income in the four income tax years ended 5 April 1985. Until this is done, my Department cannot conclude its review of the case.
