It was announced in the national plan that the Government had decided that CIE's rail sundries which are marketed by CIE as Transtrack services should be discontinued from January 1986, unless they are shown to be profitable in 1984 and 1985.
The assessment of the financial performance of this service which is a complex matter is being carried out by my Department in consultation with CIE. The future of the service will be considered in the light of that assessment.
