More than 500 court judgments were obtained in 1985 in proceedings for non-payment of income tax, corporation tax, capital gains tax, PAYE and value-added tax. In addition more than 1,800 convictions were imposed by the courts for failure to furnish statutory returns etc. in respect of these taxes. I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the statutory lists for the year 1985 of certain categories of tax defaulters are in course of compilation and will be published in Iris Oifigiúil at an early date.
