asked the Minister for Justice the total number of reported robberies in 1986 to the latest available date; and the number for the corresponding period in 1985.

378.

asked the Minister for Justice the total amount taken in reported robberies in 1986 to the latest available date; and the amount for the corresponding period in 1985.

Limerick East): I propose to take Questions Nos. 377 and 378 together. A record of the numbers of robberies and the total value of property stolen is maintained by the Garda Síochána on an annual basis and published each year in the Garda Commissioner's report on crime. It would not be possible to provide figures in the manner requested by the Deputy, covering a period of a few weeks, without adding considerably to the duties of the Garda.

379.

asked the Minister for Justice the total number of reported robberies in 1985; the total amount taken; and the total amount recovered in that period.

Limerick East): The information sought by the Deputy is not yet available but will be included in the Garda Commissioner's report on crime for 1985 which will be published later this year and a copy of which will be placed in the Library.
