Vol. 363 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Dublin Schools.

402.

asked the Minister for Education if she has received representations from the Castleview post primary school project, Tallaght, County Dublin; and, if so, if she will make a statement on the matter.

Officials from my Department met a deputation from the Castleview and Kilnamanagh areas recently regarding the provision of a post primary school at Castleview. I have also received written representations. The points put forward by the deputation and those in the written representations will be taken into account in my Department's further review, which is underway at present, of the post primary accommodation position in the Tallaght and adjacent areas. This review will have to take account of the many new and older schools already established in these areas.

403.

asked the Minister for Education if it is her intention to give permanent status to the special school, St. Laurence O'Toole No. 2, 105 Seville Place, Dublin 1; and if she will arrange for the purchase of the school premises which is currently for sale and as this is more economic than continuing to pay yearly rent.

The question of the continuing operation of St. Laurence O'Toole (No. 2) national school is being considered at present and it is hoped that a decision on the future need for the facility will be reached shortly. The question of purchasing the school premises which are being rented at present will be considered in the light of a decision on the future of the project.
