Vol. 363 No. 1

Written Answers. - Mallow Bypass.

94.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will make extra funds available for the erection of a wall at the rear of the houses at Duhallow Park, Mallow, County Cork, because of the building of the new by-pass which is within a few yards of the rear of these houses.

Primary responsibility for the preparation of proposals for national road projects rests with the local authority concerned. In the case of the scheme in question, the proposals submitted by Cork County Council and approved by my Department did not make any provision for the construction of a wall at the location referred to. There are no proposals before the Department for a modification of the proposals and accordingly, the question of providing a road grant for the work does not arise.
