My Department do not propose to acquire the Carton Estate for afforestation purposes. Ordinarily, land acquired for that purpose is confined to that which is marginal or sub-marginal for agricultural use. The Carton land is not in that category.
The acquisition of property for the purpose of establishing a National Park is a matter for the Office of Public Works.
