asked the Minister for Education the reason for the continued delay in giving sanction for the contract for the extension to the Christian Brothers School, Drogheda; if she is aware of the dangerous state of the prefabs which have been in use for 12 years; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Tenders for the proposed extension to the Christian Brothers national school, Drogheda, County Louth, have been received in my Department. The question of the placing of a contract is being considered and my Department will communicate with the school authorities in this connection at the earliest possible date. While my Department have not received representations specifically in relation to the condition of the prefabs I accept generally the desirability of replacing, at the earliest opportunity, prefab classrooms of the age of the structures in question here.
