My Department has had an application for the extension of Connolly national school, County Clare. Previous inspection of the existing site for an extension raised doubts with regard to its suitability. My Department has sought the further views of its professional advisers on this matter, and will be in touch with the school authorities in the light of their further recommendations.
Responsibility for repairs to school buildings is a matter for the boards of management. My Department has, however, under consideration the possibility of grant aiding certain improvements at Connolly national school and awaits the recommendations of its professional advisers on these matters also. Every effort will be made to have the decisions conveyed to the school authorities without delay.

asked the Minister for Education when a grant for the repair of Annagh national school, County Clare, will be paid, as work has been completed for some time.
A substantial part of the grant sanctioned by my Department for improvement works carried out at Annagh national school, County Clare, has been paid to the school authorities. Payment of the balance will be made as soon as certain of the works which have yet to be certified as satisfactory by my Department's professional officers have been passed for final grant payment. There is also under consideration an application from the school authorities for a more favourable grant rate. I am asking that the outstanding matters be dealt with as soon as possible.
