Vol. 363 No. 13

Written Answers. - SDA Loans.

74.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he has any plans to increase the SDA loan of £16,000; if he will agree that because it is now too low, loan applications have substantially reduced; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have no proposals to increase the loan limit for SDA loans, but I am keeping the position under review. While there is a decline in demand for SDA loans, this is due principally to the availability of an additional source of loan finance, through the Housing Finance Agency. The continuing demand for SDA loans is evidence that the SDA scheme as presently constituted is still assisting a significant number of people in providing their own homes.
